The Alaska Sea Life Centre
Colin, Ed and Frances were suppose to hike up to the Harding Ice Fields today but we awoke to a downpour. Scratch that, regroup, okay lets go to the Alaska Sea Life Centre......inside and dry. This is an active Sea Life research facility which also does rehabilitation and education. The idea for the world class marine laboratory was conceived and brought to Seward in 1960 and opened its doors in 1998. Today it represents a very impressive centre with a large focus on educating the public about the Alaska Marine ecosystem.
There was an excellent Sea Birds habitat where you could watch Puffins “Fly” under water. Very neat!
On the way back to the trailer we found a spot to download our email and went home for dinner.
Quiet day.......
